Roof Foils
Roofing foils were rarely used under roofing materials 20-30 years ago. However, today, we consider them essential and necessary for any type of roof. We offer various types of foils, with the most suitable being one with a weight of at least 140g/m², which is considered to meet higher quality standards.
The function of roofing foils is to prevent surface moisture and condensation from entering the attic. When choosing a foil, you should always consult with experts. Foils with a weight of 270g/m² differ in their properties and technical parameters, which should guide us in selecting the right functional foil.
The foil should be characterized by good thermal resistance, tensile strength, and resistance to mechanical damage. After sealing and fixing the foil with battened laths, the foil should be exposed to UV radiation for a maximum of 3 to 8 weeks, depending on the type of foil.
The roof should then be covered with roofing material or a protective tarpaulin.
It is important to know whether the attic wood has been treated for pests or not. Only the following foils have resistance to leaching from the chemical wood treatment: JUTADACH MONOLITIC PROFI, JUTADACH THERMOISOL 2AP, JUTATOP 2AP, JUTATOP 3R HRT 2AP.
From a health perspective, wood treatment is very dangerous when it comes into contact with water, especially after rain, as the chemicals can leach into groundwater. In Germany, wood treatment for roof structures is prohibited.
The treatment itself should be renewed every 2-3 years.
Another important parameter that influences the choice of membrane is the roof pitch. There are membranes available for minimum roof pitches of 5°, 10°, and 17°.
The lower the roof pitch, the more important it is to have a higher-quality membrane.
According to experts, an important parameter is the SD value – the vapor permeability of the building material. The lower the value, the higher the quality of the material. We know that in winter, vapor from the interior tries to escape to the exterior and is able to penetrate through the thermal insulation. Therefore, it is important to ensure vapor permeability not only of the entire roof but also of the building. Condensed moisture can destroy the entire roofing system, which means the roofing membrane must have vapor permeability and allow moisture to pass from the interior to the exterior.
It is worth investing in a roofing foil because the cost of the roofing foil accounts for approximately 2% of the total cost of the roofing system.

EUROVENT SUPER 170g/m² PLUS 2x TAPE
It is a three-layer roofing foil with high vapor permeability, designed for use
in construction for pitched roofs and roofs with solid decking.
It is highly resistant to tearing.
It does not require the use of an air gap between the foil and the insulation.
The foil can be applied directly onto the thermal insulation.
It has two integrated tapes for joining overlaps.
JUTATOP 2AP 270g/m2
It is a highly UV-stable waterproofing foil.
We use it for ventilated facades and roofs.
The horizontal joints in the facades are up to 50mm wide.
We can place it directly onto the thermal insulation, but with solid diffusion decking.
The foil is unique because it allows water vapor to escape from the structure, creating a so-called closed system for thermal insulation.
We use it as both a contact and non-contact membrane.
The 2AP variant comes with an integrated application tape for easy and quick connection.
During installation, it is laid on a dry, clean, and firm surface, either horizontally or vertically.
DÖRKEN DELTA MAXX PLUS 270g/m2
Under-roof and facade foil for facades with sealed joints.
It is a highly durable polyester fabric capable of absorbing water with waterproof properties.
and a vapor-permeable polyurethane coating.
The foil is resistant to penetration through the foil.
It competes with high material quality and long durability.
The advantage is quick, safe, and easy installation with minimal waste.
